There’s a sad movement of faux feminism going on in Hollywood. Women that claim to care about other women, but shudder at the word “feminism”, confusing it with some outdated definition that doesn’t really apply. Some celebs identify with the word, but then go back on their word, and the feminist movement in Hollywood seems pretty confused, to be honest.
1. Taylor Swift
Taylor tries her best to project the image of a feminist, by donating to Ke$ha in the face of her notorious crisis, and doing the whole “girl squad” and “I’m all about sisterhood” thing, but she never actually spoke out about anything regarding the rape accusations, and throwing money at the situation seemed like a sad compromise. Speak about rights for your fellow women and show true female solidarity, instead of some album cover version of it, Taylor!
2. Kim Kardashian
Kim Kardashian was quoted as saying “I don’t like labels. I do what makes me happy and I want women to be confident and I’m so supportive of women… But I’m not the ‘free the nipple’-type girl.” However, her nipple has definitely been freed in many a photograph. Hypocrite much? Not to mention a ton of topless photos, and her using the excuse of body positivity and feminism when she does that. Well, this doesn’t sound very positive for bodies or women. Faux feminist alert.
